Introducing
The Band Coulee Creek
The bluegrass album Matriarch takes a listener through a woman’s journey from coming-of-age to enlightenment. The album Matriarch organizes the songs and poems to create the story of a woman’s life, struggling with economic and political pressures as she navigates romance, family, and identity. The band Coulee Creek chose March 1 to release the album to commemorate Women’s History Month and bring attention not only to Hazel Dickens and Alice Gerrard as pioneers in music and social justice, but to the lives of the women they championed.
